Speak up, please!

IMG_5790_web2

I lost my voice today.  I don’t remember ever losing my voice before now.  My kids didn’t know what to think of me this morning as I was trying to get everyone out the door to school on time.  There was a lot of “what?” and “what’s wrong with your voice?” going on.  I couldn’t even explain to them why because they couldn’t hear or understand me anyway.  I don’t think it would be so bad either, except I had my doctor’s appointment today and had some questions for him about my upcoming glucose test.  That was an interesting conversation, to say the least!  The only time I ever remember losing my voice was in junior high when I didn’t actually lose it, I just pretended to because I didn’t want the teacher to call on me.  It didn’t take long for me to forget about it and get caught by the teacher 20 minutes into the class.  That is all the (fake) experience I have on the subject.  Any advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated!

As far as the picture goes, I did a practice photo shoot with Caleb yesterday for his birthday coming up next week.  I thought this one was funny because I had to bribe him with skittles to smile.  I got the smile, for sure.  Green teeth and all!

Have a happy weekend!

Quarantined

Brandon stayed home from school today because he isn't feeling well. Caleb and I got it on Monday so I figured it was only a matter of time before it would spread through the rest of the family. Of all the days for him to be sick, though, he missed his field trip to the "Evanston Republic Library". (He was so excited about it yesterday when he came home from school and I thought it was so cute that he said republic instead of public.)

Kelsie, on the other hand, was very upset that she would have to walk home by herself at the end of the day. She told Wally before he dropped her off this morning that she saw him standing over the heater so his head would get warm so he would have a temperature so she would have to walk home by herself today. Does that make anyone else think of Shel Silverstein's poem, Sick?

We tried to make it a fun day despite the situation we were in. Caleb was thrilled that Brandon built a big train track for him and played trains together for a while. Then we made some paper snowflakes, Christmas cards, ate macaroni and cheese for lunch, and finally played a computer game.

Kelsie didn't have to walk home alone, for those of you who were worried. I met her halfway and all is well. Who knows, she may be staying home tomorrow.

ONLY if she stands in front of the heater for a really

long

time.
